Course Level: Basic
Program Duration: 5 Days (Initial), 3 Days (Recurrent)
Target Audience: Staff responsible for acceptance, handling, and loading of cargo, mail & courier, Cargo professionals, Cargo handlers’ operations staff, Air cargo general sales agents, Freight forwarders, logistics professionals and any personnel involved in cargo operations.
Pre-Requisites:
- Shall be conversant in reading, writng and speaking English
Course Objectives:
- Gain knowledge of air cargo regulations and publications.
- Understand national and international regulations controlling air cargo transportation.
- Gain fair understanding of the various parties involved in the transportation chain of air cargo.
- Introduction to basic world geography and use of knowledge in air transportation.
- Gain the understanding of various definitions, codes which are used in air cargo transportation.
- Understand the types of aircrafts and ULD’s.
- Get to know various parties involved in the transportation of air cargo and responsibilities.
- Gain knowledge about various facilities required at the cargo warehouse and its management.
- Get to know policies and procedures pertaining to air cargo acceptance.
- Know various types of special cargo and their acceptance and handling procedures.
- Get to know about the various documents being used in air cargo transportation.
- Determine the chargeable weight of a shipment and freight charges.
- Understand standard procedures for handling of cargo irregularity including efficiently handling
of claims and complaints. - Ensure compliance with safety regulations and international guidelines.
