Program Dura*on: 3 Days (Initial), 2 Days (Recurrent)
Target Audience: Staff responsible for acceptance, handling, and loading consignments of live animals by air. Cargo professionals, Cargo handlers’ operations staff, Air cargo general sales agents, Freight forwarders, logistics professionals and any personnel processing live animals.
Pre-Requisites:
- Shall be conversant in reading, writing and speaking English
- Participants should have basic knowledge of logistics and cargo handling.
Assessments: Knowledge Assessment.
Qualification Criteria: Participants must score 70% and Above

Course Objectives:
- Get well familiarized with the contents of Live animals Regulations and applying the IATA LAR
effectively. - Understand the role and importance of government health and welfare regulations, including
CITES, for animal transport and how they relate to airline operations. - Learn and refer the state and operator variations related to live animals’ transportation.
- Understand the caring conditions for different species, including feeding and watering while
they are under the operators custody. - Gain knowledge and complete the reservation and acceptance procedures for live animals.
- Learn special requirements for live animal’s during transportation.
- Be familiar with the design and use of different types of transport containers and as per
requirements of different species. - Understand documentation requirements and acceptance procedures for live animal’s
consignments. - Complete the NOTOC for live animal’s consignments.
- Accept/ reject AVI shipments with the use of IATA Live Animals Acceptance Checklist.
- Learn the storage and loading procedures for live animals in accordance with the regulations.
- Acquired the knowledge to cope up with delays, emergencies and crisis relating to the carriage
of life animals.
